BCAFL
All-time Team (1984-1999) |
First Team & First Choice: Terry
Robinson RB
The All-Time Team is comprised of the players ajudged to be the
best in each position during the time period. This is in effect the best of the
best. This is not a second Hall of Fame and the only factor taken into account
other than playing prowess is that a player must have played at least half a
season in the League. This team represents the first 15 years of British
university football. It is not an annual or regular team.

BCAFL
Hall of Fame |
Founding Class: Terry Robinson RB
Teesside 1988-91; Bristol 1991-94
Terry Robinson might be the best combination of speed, power, and grace ever to
appear in a running back in BCAFL. For six years, and representing two teams,
he ran over, through, and around opponents, establishing himself in a class to
which all others can only hope to be compared.
Robinson started his career at Teesside, and he was one of the key reasons the
Demons won consecutive national championships. In 1989-90, he set League
regular-season records by rushing for 14 touchdowns and by scoring 92 points,
single-handledly outscoring all but four BCAFL teams. Then, in College Bowl IV,
he scored twice in the second half to help lead the Demons to a thrilling,
come-from-behind, 21-20 victory against Birmingham.
The next year, Robinson again combined with Derek Chapman to lead Teesside to
an unbeaten season. And in College Bowl V, he was named the game's most
valuable player after running for two touchdowns and catching a third on a
58-yard pass from Chapman, as the Demons easily handled East Anglia 19-0.
Robinson's five touchdowns in the two games remain the career record for
scoring in the College Bowl.
The next year, Robinson was a key figure in the setting up of the new Bristol
team. The Bullets played two games that season in the Challenge Bowl series,
and Robinson scored all of their points. The next two years, with the Bullets
full members of BCAFL, he again proved himself perhaps the best back in the
League.
